Gods and Goddesses are not all pure and gracious in all cultures and religion. Take Greek Gods and Goddesses for example, have mostly human characteristics and reflect human behaviors. Zeus was “Lord of Justice”, keeping everything balanced and punish anyone who lied or broke an oath. Although he was an almighty powerful god, and awed by all the Gods, he was a resemblance the opposite of what he is. If Zeus was really the “Lord of Justice”, then he would not have cheated on his wife with more than one affair and would not have control the weather because of his temper. If the weather depends on his emotions then it wouldn’t be fair for the humans suffering from rain to flood, from cloud to thunder. Going back to his affairs, one of his famous affair is with Io, daughter of the river god Inachus. It seems that he raped Io and after his wife Hera found out of his affair, forced him to turn Io into a cow. If Zeus is truly the god of justice and reflects merciful, prudent behaviors then he would not have cheated on his wife or raped Io. In today’s society, Zeus would have been a figure of a child-molester, or a rapist. It seems that Zeus have had a lot of crime done while he’s “balancing justice”, but is his decisions really right? Or are other gods just afraid of his invincible powers?
